The Brooks Launch 10 is a lightweight, versatile running shoe designed for runners who prioritize speed and responsiveness while still wanting a bit of cushioning for comfort. Here’s a detailed review:
Comfort and Cushioning:
The Brooks Launch 10 features BioMoGo DNA cushioning in the midsole, which provides a balanced blend of comfort and responsiveness. While it’s not as plush as some of Brooks' other models like the Ghost or Glycerin, the Launch 10 is designed to offer a more connected feel to the ground, which many runners appreciate for faster-paced runs. The cushioning is firm enough to provide good energy return but still offers enough protection for daily training and longer runs. The overall comfort is solid, especially for a shoe in the lightweight category.
Upper Design and Fit:
The Launch 10 has an engineered mesh upper that is both breathable and supportive. The mesh is lightweight, allowing for good airflow to keep your feet cool during runs, while also offering a snug fit that holds the foot securely in place. The 3D Fit Print technology is used to provide additional structure to the upper without adding unnecessary weight, ensuring that the shoe feels secure without being restrictive. The fit is generally true to size, with a comfortable amount of room in the toe box, which can accommodate various foot shapes.
Ride and Performance:
The ride of the Launch 10 is where the shoe really shines. It’s designed for speed, making it an excellent choice for tempo runs, intervals, and even racing. The midsole provides a responsive feel, helping you pick up the pace without feeling weighed down. The shoe’s lightweight construction contributes to its agile performance, making it easy to transition from heel to toe quickly. The Launch 10 is versatile enough for daily training but really excels when used for faster workouts or shorter races.
Outsole and Durability:
The outsole of the Launch 10 features durable rubber with a pattern designed for good traction on various surfaces. The rubber is strategically placed in high-wear areas to enhance durability while keeping the shoe lightweight. The flex grooves in the outsole allow for natural foot movement, adding to the overall responsiveness and flexibility of the shoe. While the durability is good for a lightweight trainer, it may not last as long as more cushioned or heavily constructed models, particularly for runners who log high mileage.
Weight and Flexibility:
One of the standout features of the Launch 10 is its lightweight feel. This makes it ideal for runners who prefer a more minimalistic shoe that won’t hold them back during faster runs. The shoe is also quite flexible, which complements its lightweight nature and allows for a more natural running experience.
Style and Aesthetics:
The Brooks Launch 10 comes in a variety of vibrant and modern colorways, appealing to runners who like their shoes to stand out. The overall design is sleek and streamlined, reflecting the shoe’s performance-oriented purpose. The aesthetic is a nice blend of sporty and stylish, making the Launch 10 suitable for both running and casual wear.
Use Cases:
- Speed Work: The Launch 10 excels in tempo runs, intervals, and other speed-focused workouts due to its responsive midsole and lightweight construction.
- Daily Training: It can also be used for daily runs, particularly for runners who prefer a firmer, more connected feel.
- Races: The Launch 10 is versatile enough to be used for races, especially shorter distances like 5Ks and 10Ks, where speed is a priority.
Comparison to Previous Models:
Compared to the Launch 9, the Launch 10 offers slight improvements in the upper design and fit, providing a more secure and comfortable experience. The midsole and outsole remain consistent with the previous model, focusing on delivering a responsive and lightweight ride.
Summary:
The Brooks Launch 10 is an excellent choice for runners seeking a lightweight, responsive, and versatile shoe. It offers a comfortable fit, a firm and energetic ride, and the durability to handle regular training sessions. While it might not be the best option for those who need a lot of cushioning or stability, it shines as a go-to shoe for speed work, tempo runs, and even racing. If you’re looking for a shoe that can keep up with your fast-paced workouts while still being comfortable enough for daily use, the Launch 10 is a solid pick.

Proper Shoe Fit
Get The Right Size!
Improper shoe sizing and shape are the primary cause of ingrown toenails, bunions, corns and hammer toes. Sounds fun, doesn't it? It's not. Shoes that don’t fit your feet correctly can also lead to muscular imbalances in the body, opening the door to foot, knee and hip injuries.
The More You Know..
Most runners get shoes too small for them because they don't take into account these factors:
- When a load is applied to your foot by running, your foot will spread up to half an inch in length. One shoe size is only 1/3 inch.
- If allowed, your foot will splay 15 percent in width under load.
- Your foot is widest at the toes (but most shoes are not).
Tips on sizing
- Do not assume you are the same size as a previous shoe.
- If your feet are slightly different sizes, get your shoes to fit the larger foot.
- Use this shoe sizing chart:
