The Asics GT-2000 series is well-known for providing stability and support for runners, and the transition from the GT-2000 12 to the GT-2000 13 includes several notable updates and improvements. Here’s a comparison of the two models:
Asics GT-2000 12
- Cushioning: The GT-2000 12 features GEL technology and an EVA midsole that provides a good balance of comfort and responsiveness.
- Support: Designated as a stability shoe, it incorporates Dynamic DuoMax technology for enhanced support and reduces overpronation.
- Fit: The upper is made from a breathable mesh material, offering a snug yet comfortable fit.
- Weight: Generally lightweight for a stability shoe, making it a solid choice for long-distance runs.
- Durability: The outsole usually features Asics' AHAR rubber for increased durability.
Asics GT-2000 13
- Cushioning Improvements: The GT-2000 13 often includes updated FlyteFoam technology which enhances cushioning and adds responsiveness compared to the GT-2000 12.
- Enhanced Support: The 13 may feature revisions in the Dynamic DuoMax for more efficient weight distribution and stability.
- Updated Upper Design: The upper may have seen refinements, possibly with an engineered mesh for improved breathability and comfort.
- Weight: There may be slight weight changes, but it aims to remain lightweight despite added features.
- Advanced Outsole: The GT-2000 13 typically includes an updated outsole pattern for better grip and traction on various surfaces.
Summary
The GT-2000 13 builds on the foundations of the GT-2000 12 with improvements in cushioning, support, and fit. If you're looking for the latest technology and enhancements in stability running shoes, the GT-2000 13 may be the better option. However, if you can find the GT-2000 12 at a better price, it’s still a reliable choice for runners needing support and comfort.
Always consider trying on both models if possible, as individual comfort and fit can vary greatly depending on personal preferences and running styles.

Proper Shoe Fit
Get The Right Size!
Improper shoe sizing and shape are the primary cause of ingrown toenails, bunions, corns and hammer toes. Sounds fun, doesn't it? It's not. Shoes that don’t fit your feet correctly can also lead to muscular imbalances in the body, opening the door to foot, knee and hip injuries.
The More You Know..
Most runners get shoes too small for them because they don't take into account these factors:
- When a load is applied to your foot by running, your foot will spread up to half an inch in length. One shoe size is only 1/3 inch.
- If allowed, your foot will splay 15 percent in width under load.
- Your foot is widest at the toes (but most shoes are not).
Tips on sizing
- Do not assume you are the same size as a previous shoe.
- If your feet are slightly different sizes, get your shoes to fit the larger foot.
- Use this shoe sizing chart:
