Although he currently resides in Boulder, Colorado, New Orleans native Hunter Appleton is bringing his footprints back home. In addition to being an NCAA D-1 athlete and student, Appleton has also become co-owner of a brand new sock line, soon to be shipping nationwide. As we eagerly await our first order, we asked Hunter to fill us in on how he came up with the idea for a sock line, and what makes his brand special.
I started SockMoose in Boulder, Colorado with my roommate and former NCAA runner Cayce Reese because we wanted to provide runners with a high-performance sock that was more affordable compared to the current brands on the market. We hated the classic runner’s struggle of never having enough quality running socks, so we decided to create one ourselves. Although this proved a difficult task, we finally released the SpeedyMoose after collaboration with fellow runners who helped us test that our sock was comfortable, affordable, and capable of withstanding the demands all runners place on their socks. Although we are pretty early in our development, we are already working on a few more models including the more cushioned ComfyMoose and some different length socks as well. In the new year, we are hoping to continue to help get more runners the socks they need by spreading the word through our website and social media platforms and appearing in more running stores nationwide. Our big hope is that other runners enjoy the socks as much as we do!
